Frequently Asked Questions

These are my frequently asked questions. If there are still any that remain unanswered, please visit my contact page.

What should I expect my first session?

Your first session will focus on gathering information about your past, your reasons for coming, and what your long-term goals are. This session is a great opportunity for us to build a therapeutic relationship and discover if we will be a good fit for your journey.

How often should I go to therapy?

Many people start with weekly therapy sessions to build trust and consistency as it is vital for the foundation of your therapeutic progress, as this progress increases clients will usually transition to bi-weekly or monthly sessions for maintenance and stability. At the end of the day, your schedule is decided by you and what fits your needs the most, making this a tailored experience that focuses on the individual.

What insurance do you accept?

I am in network with ASR, Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Blue Care Network, and Priority Health. For out of network clients, I can offer a superbill for possible reimbursement from your insurance company.

Before your first session it's important to verify your insurance coverage. Please contact your insurance provider and ask the following questions: â€‹

  • Do I have mental health coverage?

  • What is my deductible?

  • What is my copay?

What is your cancellation policy?

Clients may cancel or reschedule an appointment at least 24 hours in advance with no fee. Appointments canceled within this time frame as well as no show appointments will incur a $150 fee. This fee will be automatically charged to the card on file. This policy allows me to reserve your session time exclusively for you and ensures fairness to all clients seeking appointments.

Do you offer virtual therapy?

Yes. I do offer virtual appointment throughout the state of Michigan.

How long are sessions?

Sessions are typically 53 minutes. Most people prefer coming to therapy once a week. Depending on both the client and therapist’s schedule, sessions can be held on the same day and time each week, or the session times may vary.

How much are sessions? Will my insurance cover it?

The fee for individual session is $185. Insurance coverage for therapy varies depending on each insurance company and what plan and benefits you have selected. I recommend contacting your insurance company directly to confirm your mental health coverage including your deductible and co-pay.

What happens in a consultation?

Before start of therapy, I offer a 15 minute free consultation to determine if  my specialties and training match your needs. This is also a good time to talk about logistics, like scheduling and insurance. Think about it as a low risk “fit -check”.

What if we're not a good fit?

If you feel that we may not be the right fit, I’m happy to connect you with another therapist who may better meet your needs.  Finding the right therapeutic relationship is important and my priority is making sure you feel comfortable, supported and understood.
